Track and Field functions under two different governing bodies: United States of America Track and Field (USATF) and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Excaliburs participates in meets under both governing bodies.
It is a team requirement that you have a USATF and AAU membership card. Listed below are the corresponding club codes for each membership.
Please be sure to use the codes listed below when obtaining/renewing membership as it will automatically attach your athlete to our club/team roster. This makes meet entries for us much easier when you are attached to our club/team.

How to Qualify for the USATF National Junior Olympics
NOTE: Iowa is in Region 8. All athletes must be current USATF members in good standing.
Competitors in the 8 and Under, 9-10, and 11-12 age group divisions may compete in a maximum of three (3) events, including relays. Competitors in the 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18 age group divisions may compete in a maximum of four (4) events, including relays.
Step 1: The top 8 individuals and top 8 relay teams in each event of each age division will advance to the USATF Region 8 Championships.
Step 2: The top 5 athletes at the Region 8 Championships will qualify for the National Championships.
How to Qualify for the AAU Junior Olympics
NOTE: Iowa is in District 40 and Region 14. All athletes must be current AAU members.
The athlete’s year of birth determines their competitive division. Ages 12 and younger can compete in a maximum of three (3) events. Ages 13 and over can compete in a maximum of four (4) events.
Step 1: The top sixteen (16) finishers in each individual, relay, and multi-event shall advance from the District Qualifier to the Regional Qualifier. Competitors shall only advance from the District Qualifier into the Regional Qualifier in the events that they actually competed and qualified at the district level.
Step 2: To advance from the Regional Qualifier to the AAU Junior Olympic Games,
a. Running events: top six (6) athletes advance
b. Field events: top five (5) athletes advance
c. Relays: top three (3) teams/athletes advance
d. Multi-events: top four (4) teams/athletes advance
